BEATRIZ DE LOS MOZOS

Globetrotter, entrepreneur, bibliophile, Rosalía super-fan…these are all words we would use to describe our Babe in HART Beatriz de los Mozos.

Founder of Flabelus, the Spanish shoe brand cross-pollinating the classic Mary Jane slipper with European-inspired espadrilles, Beatriz is steadfastly building a global brand rooted in craftsmanship, color, and character.

Beatriz de los Mozos

Welcome to Babes in HART – let’s say we just met at a dinner party. How would you introduce yourself?

I love dinner parties! I would introduce myself as Bea. Simple. If you asked a little bit more, I would say I work on shoes! Then you would tell me, those you are wearing? And I would instantly come back to you: EXACTLY girl!

At its core, our jewelry is about authenticity—wearing what reflects who you really are and tells your story. That said, what lights you up?

Excitement, adventure, challenges, everything together. I love a ‘no’ as I can turn it to a ‘yes.’ I love to convince you. I thrive when I travel. Lately I cannot wait to be by myself with the air in my face, the little sunshines, the smell of the sea. Small details make me immensely happy.

From working in M&A law to AI sales and now running your global shoe brand…what’s a takeaway from your prior roles that has helped you build your global brand?

Everything happens for a reason, you cannot control what's going to happen, so just chill and enjoy the ride! I also learned to know what I did like against what I didn't. I would say I was not necessarily super happy doing law, and then the AI world I really loved. I learned everything I needed (from a start up to a scale up) to reproduce it within my own company. It's been so much fun!

Your personal style is so colorful and fun. Tell us about what makes Spanish style unique from the rest of the world, and how espadrilles fit into the Spanish woman’s wardrobe.

For me, Spanish style is very natural as it goes with the country! We love colors, but that depends on the region. It’s neither overly rigid nor overly calculated. There’s a mix of elegance, character, and joy. My brand Flabelus is part of that naturalness. They are a symbol of who we are: comfortable, versatile, deeply connected to craftsmanship and history. Spanish women incorporate them into their wardrobes almost effortlessly, because they work just as well for everyday life as they do for more special moments.

Who would be your dream muse to walk in a pair of Flabelus shoes, and which pair would you give them?

Without a doubt, Rosalía. I admire her strength, her authenticity, and her ability to blend tradition and modernity. She has character, identity, and a very powerful presence, yet she is also deeply creative and free. I would gift her a pair of bold Flabelus, something that reflects her blend of roots and avant-garde. A style with presence and texture, perhaps in a vibrant color, something that stands out without losing versatility.

What are you aspiring to lately? Personally or professionally?

Lately, what I aspire to most is balance. On a personal level, to be calm. It sounds simple, but it’s not always easy. I want to surround myself with the people I love, nurture my relationships, and have time to read, to think, and to enjoy the small things.

Professionally, I want Flabelus to go much further, to continue growing internationally, to enter new cities. But not growth for the sake of growth; rather, expansion without losing our essence, our craftsmanship, and our soul. It excites me to think that what began as an intuition can become a solid, respected, global brand with purpose.

Tell us about your HART pieces – what do the charms signify to you? Where are you excited to wear them?

For me, charms are very special because they are small symbols with meaning. They’re not just decorative; you pick them for a reason that resonates with you. I’ve always been very emotional about objects. I like to wear things that remind me who I am or where I want to go. Charms feel almost like amulets, discreet, yet full of meaning.

What are the “tools” you use in your everyday life that help you speak to your authenticity? I.e. artist’s tools (paintbrushes, etc.), computer, notebook

Books. Literature. Stories.

Reading helps me return to myself. It reminds me who I am, what inspires me, what moves me. When I read, I train my imagination. I understand other realities, other voices, other ways of seeing the world. And that deeply influences how I create and how I lead.

Another essential tool for me is traveling. Discovering other cultures, observing how people live, how they express themselves, what they eat, their crafts, how they dress. Travel takes you out of your own world and forces you to broaden your perspective. And when you want to build a global brand, that openness is essential.

You’re originally from Spain, but now split your time in between London, Madrid and Mexico City. What’s your dream day in one of those places?

I love all three cities. But honestly, for my day to feel ideal in any of them, I need a moment of disconnection.I need to sit down in one of my favorite restaurants. A quiet lunch or dinner, good conversation, and the feeling that time slows down a little. And just feel home. I feel at home in the three of them for different reasons. London is where I grew up. México resonates with my married fun life, and Madrid, Madrid is family.

What exciting things are on the horizon for Flabelus that you can share with us?

Beautiful things are coming, truly. We’re working on opening the world. And that's crazy! Yet super exciting. India, China, East Asia. Let’s go! There are also collaborations coming that genuinely excite me, projects that connect with our cultural and artisanal essence, and that allow us to engage in dialogue with other creative universes.
