REBECCA MINKOFF

Designer. Founder. Builder of an empire that began with a single bag and grew into something much bigger.

Since launching her namesake brand in New York, Rebecca has built a global fashion business known for effortless accessories and downtown cool. Along the way, she’s also created a powerful network for women entrepreneurs through the Female Founder Collective and hosts her podcast Superwomen with Rebecca Minkoff, where she talks candidly with founders about building businesses with purpose.

We caught up with Rebecca to talk about what lights her up, the founder advice she wishes she’d heard earlier, and the meaningful charms she’s wearing on her HART lariat necklace.

Welcome to Babes in HART — let’s say we just met at a dinner party. How would you introduce yourself?

I am Rebecca Minkoff, and then ….

At its core, our jewelry is about authenticity—wearing what reflects who you really are and tells your story. That said, what lights you up?

My children light me up, the way that there is still so much wonder and imagination left and how they view the world. My career lights me up, I have a lot of facets to what I do but it all is like pieces of a puzzle that all fit to complete the purpose I have-to inspire confidence in women.

You’ve evolved from accessories into a full lifestyle brand, an NFT collection, and a dynamic podcast. What’s one conversation you’ve had (and with whom) on your show, Superwomen with Rebecca Minkoff, that sticks out to you and why?

I mean my convo with Hart clearly! It's not everyday that you get to meet a woman who bootstrapped and grew their company to over 15m in sales. There is so much noise around raising capital and building to sell and it was refreshing to have a convo that was about building something you love with intention and that you CAN do it without outside capital.

Your personal style walks the line between downtown ease, edge, and polish. What are the pieces in your closet you always come back to?

A leather jacket always, a Rebecca Minkoff bag of the season and a great pair of boots.

You champion women founders in a very real, structural way through Female Founder Collective and offering a strong network with real resources . What’s something you wish you’d been told earlier in your career?

That I needed a community and education to teach me what i didnt know I needed. There is so much to always learn as a founder and if I had, had access to the shared knowledge and experience of other founders, so many mistakes could have been avoided.

Tell us about your HART pieces – what are your favorite charms, and what do the charms signify to you? Where / how  are you most excited to wear your jewelry

I love EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. I am a sucker for a locket, so the RMS collab was genius, I love my lariat as it has so many symbolic charms on it for me, the match because I want to to help light others up, the horseshoe for abundance and they mama key because that is what gives me joy. The pearl choker is also a good one as I am not a classic pearl girlie so this gives an edge to the idea which i love.

What are the “tools” you use in your everyday life that help you speak to your authenticity? I.e. artist’s tools (paintbrushes, etc.), computer, notebook, podcasts, meditation, etc.

I love a podcast, but working out, healthy eating, excel spreadsheets and analog list making!

New York has always been central to your story. What does a perfect New York day look like for you now?

Get up, coffee, slow walk to pilates at Core Culture or Nofar, brunch with a friend, home to grab kids then we go off for some sort of adventure that moves their bodies, like a bike ride in central park, or a long museum walk, followed by dinner, movies and then early to bed.

What exciting things are on the horizon for Rebecca Minkoff (person or the brand!) that you can share with our community?

We are launching swim and sunnies in a month and I am obsessed with them! Cant wait for that to be another facet of a woman's life we get to be a part of.
