HART GOLD-PLATING AND QUALITY POLICY
How Long Will it Last?
At HART, we are obsessed with creating top-quality, soulful jewelry for an attainable price. While not indestructible, our gold jewelry is made-to-last many years because we invest in a luxuriously-thick, durable layer of gold-plating. Heavy Gold Electroplate (HGE), to be exact. HGE is an official, industry-recognized quality certification by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). With HGE, we do our part; the rest depends on proper care.
How does HART define ‘proper care’? Avoid the 4 ‘S’s as much as possible.
- Do not Swim
- Do not Shower
- Do not Sweat
- Do not Spray (lotions, perfumes, tanning, sunscreen, etc)
- *Science: did you know certain medications and one’s body chemistry can also lead to tarnishing? Of course, this is unavoidable, but it’s good to keep in mind.*
We recognize that these rules are a bit unrealistic for our active, fun-loving, gorgeous, stylish customers. Rocking your charm necklace to pilates or skinny-dipping every now and then is okay. If you do, be sure to clean your jewelry with our Cleaning Kit to remove abrasive chemicals.
Our jewelry is not designed to be precious. Overtime, it will develop patina, scratches, and character. It will age with you. And we think that’s beautiful.
Let’s Be Real:
There’s only one way to avoid patina and tarnishing: invest in fine, solid gold jewelry. If it’s gold-plated – no matter how good the quality – it will eventually tarnish. If you are hard on your jewelry, want an everyday piece to never take off, or require an indestructible level of durability, HART jewelry is probably not for you. That said, if you want fun jewelry to wear many days per week, appreciate some patina, and don’t mind removing before showering and sleeping, you will love our designs.

REPAIR AND RESTORATION POLICY
Jewelry is inherently delicate. Repairs and restoration are expected to be needed over time, especially for frequently-worn, hand-made designs.
TARNISHING: In most cases, tarnishing defects due to manufacturing error - although rare - will become evident almost immediately or within 6 months of normal wear. Our charms are individually-plated, one-by-one. It’s a mystical, meticulous, hand-done process done by real humans, so mistakes can happen sometimes. We reserve the right to assess whether damage is due to manufacturing error, improper care or normal wear and tear.
If your charms tarnish within six months of purchase, subject to inspection, we will fix them for you and cover associated shipping fees. If you are within the 6 month window and need help, please email us a photo of your jewelry with your order number (located on your receipt with purchase) so that our team and production partners can determine the origin of the defect.
After six months of purchase, HART is not responsible for restoration as we consider this normal wear and tear.
Your satisfaction is our number one priority. If you’re out of the six month window, we still want to hear from you and see how we can help.
STRUCTURAL: In most cases, manufacturing defects - although rare - will become evident almost immediately or within a few weeks. Structural repairs (jump ring, chain or clasp breakage) and associated shipping fees are covered within the first three months after purchase. After three months, HART reserves the right to assess whether the damage was incurred due to improper care, and will advise purchasing our Alterations Bundle for repair and shipping fees.

*THE FINE PRINT*
Our tarnishing guarantee is valid for six months, and our structural guarantee is valid for three months from the date of purchase. These guarantees apply exclusively to custom charm jewelry purchased directly through our website, trunk shows, or retail stores (an order number is required). Please note that this warranty does not extend to jewelry purchased from wholesale stores or online third-party retailers.
If you are experiencing tarnishing after six months, we recommend re-plating your jewels to restore them. We are unable to re-plate chains (as these are gold filled), enamel charms and two-tone charms. Please reach out to us for more information on our re-plating services.
