3 Looks 3 Ways: Erin Reitz
Meet Erin Reitz. She's the designer and founder behind E.M. Reitz, who insists the perfect way to style her signature tailored shirts include unbuttoning them a bit lower than expected and coupling them with a bra in an unexpected color.
Erin proves that true style is all about effortless, elevated versatility which is why she was the perfect muse for 3 Looks 3 Ways series.

We tapped Erin to show us how she layers HART into her everyday rotation around Charleston.

Q: What's the unofficial dress code when E.M. Reitz HQ is your dining table? What are you most excited about at E.M. Reitz right now?
A: I wear an E.M. Reitz shirt every day, usually with tailored trousers from my friend Lakan (Nola-based Lakan Studio)or a pair of vintage denim. I make a point of wearing my shirts daily, because then I can sense what the collection is missing. What kind of silhouette am I craving, or what new color do I need to add? This led me to a new category that I'm so excited to launch in October. I have created an evening collection in 100% fine cotton, forming shirt shapes through delicate hand-pleating techniques. These shirts came from a need for evening attire that fits my tailored style; I never felt quite right in a gown, so I created a small collection to fill that part of my closet with over-the-top special art pieces I can wear for fancy occasions.

Q: The Law of Attraction coin is about thoughts becoming things. What's something you thought into existence?
A: I do believe in the power of positive thinking. I think if you can clearly see or feel a desired outcome, and your motivation is from a good place, you can make it happen. E.M.Reitz is a new business, just shy of 5 years- it comes out of 25 years of experience designing clothes. I knew I had the skills and a vision, but I wasn’t sure WHO would be buying these shirts. I sort of FELT her. And she has shown up in a huge way. I have a somewhat corny feeling that I put all my experience and passion into my shirts and send that energy to my clients. I am constantly getting emails about how good my shirts make women feel- ready for an interview, or presentation, or just feeling good about themselves on a regular Tuesday running errands. So somehow, my feelings toward my current and future clients have built this incredible community of supportive women in my life.
Q: Describe your ideal date night, starting at the Hampton Park Farmers Market. What are you grabbing, and how are you spending the rest of the night?
A: My husband and love a good date night—but actually PREFER a date DAY! Our dream date is a midday lunch at Chez Nous, a long walk to American Garden. Maybe stop into an antique store or gallery and end up at Buxton Books—adding to our never-ending stacks of books in our house.

Q: You're grabbing drinks at a local spot. What's your go-to order? Beer, wine, or cocktail?
A: I have very few drinks on my “go-to” list. A cold draft pilsner, A glass of champagne or very light dry white, or a Negroni. Unless it's sunny and summertime, and I’ll take a marg!
Q: What lights you up about E.M. Reitz right now, and what keeps you grounded when things get busy?
A: Designing, draping, and sketching will always drive me at work. I absolutely love creating new forms and figuring out new solutions to the same need- how many ways can you make a shirt that feels timeless, utilitarian, yet special and beautiful.
Q: What's your favorite way to dress up a white button-down?
A: Button-downs are so versatile! I love wearing them with a high-waisted skirt. I typically like to unbutton them pretty low and wear a nice bra that acts as a pop of color. Then, of course, I add on shiny necklaces of different lengths.
