MEET JAIMIE DEWBERRY: A HEART OF GOLD

A heart of gold. That's the first thing that comes to mind when we think of our latest Babe in Hart: Jaimie Dewberry. 

Jaimie is at the helm of Dewberry Group’s internal design firm, Studio Dewberry, where she oversees design and procurement for Charleston's distinguished hotel, The Dewberry, as well as the company’s portfolio of properties along the southeast. In addition, Jaimie serves as Director of The Dewberry Foundation, which manages charitable requests, contributions and strategic planning. 

Design is in her DNA. Jaimie grew up in Dalton, Georgia as the daughter of design and home décor retail business owners.

Jaimie divides her time among she and her husband's homes in Charleston (where she is neighbor's with Hart's parents!), Atlanta, and Doonbeg, Ireland.

We can say with no exaggeration that Jaimie lights up every room she walks into. We are so thrilled to share our adventurous, magnanimous, and creative friend with you!

Describe your next dream travel destination.

Dreaming of the wild + untamed shores of Corsica!

STAY – Domaine De Murtoli – a stunning, beach-fringed private estate that is located on the southern coast of Corsica.

Activity – Explore! The estate has mountains, rivers, and over a mile long private beach. John + I also love to harvest our own organic veggies from the domaine’s farm. Dinner in the chicest cave restaurant you have ever seen is also a must!

Also itching to get back to Italy… the reunion will feel like visiting a long-lost friend!!!

My dear friend Meryanne Loum-Martin just came out with a stunning book with Rizzoli called Inside Marrakesh Enchanting Homes + Gardens and it has been providing loads of inspiration! It takes you into some of the most enchanting + jaw dropping private homes in Marrakesh. Second best way to see if you can’t be there in person.

What is the #1 tip to make your home/bedroom feel like a lux room at The Dewberry?

Purchase The Dewberry Signature Candle! It is crazy how a scent can tickle your nose and send you straight away to faraway lands + trigger nostalgia. 

We spent a year formulating this custom scent which is actually inspired by the southern dewberry plant. Our signature blend of Bulgarian rose, coastal botanicals, French myrrh, sandalwood and exotic spice can be found throughout the hotel and is used with all of our amenities in-room (soap, lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner).

You travel a lot between your different homes in Atlanta, Charleston, San Fran and Ireland. What’s some of your packing/traveling advice for all of us who are going to be jet setting as soon we are allowed to again? 

Roll with it! It really is all about your attitude. No matter how well a trip is planned, plans can change, or things come up (i.e.—bad weather, delayed transport… etc)… I think it is important to have an explorer’s mindset. You never know, sometimes Plan B is better than the original!

Travel Mantra: Do as the locals do! -  Truly the best way to see any place... John + I have that mantra/mindset no matter what country or village!

How do you plan to celebrate Valentine’s day?

Most likely, a quiet candle lit dinner with my hubby + two fur babies at home! (50% chance home cooked / 50% chance take out)

It is so crazy how your whole mindset + heart health can change just by getting out of your own head + bubble… and helping someone! Whether it is as small as a smile or a hug or just an encouraging text – by those actions you have the power to positively affect + change the trajectory of someone’s whole day. It truly fills your heart tank right up!

What’s your no-fail go-to when you need to get out of a creative rut?

A walk-in nature! No matter where in the world you are located… Nature always has a new pattern + texture + color palette to offer.

My other go-to is to open up any The World of Interiors or Cabana magazines! You can always find endless inspiration throughout their pages!

The last favorite thing you purchased that’s bringing you a lot of joy.

A tulip painting by Raven Roxanne, a very talented artist + amazing soul… The painting is called “Nestled Next to you” + it hangs in my home office in Charleston. 

Let’s talk fashunnn. What do you love to buy? Do you have a uniform? Where do you splurge vs. save?

I love fashion + enjoy putting together an outfit whether it is to meet a friend for lunch or walk our pups around the block… I think you always have to mix it up… like how you accessorize + design for a great room. Two must-have elements: 1) Always need a vintage piece to add soul could be a vintage piece of jewelry, sunglasses or purse. 2) You should have at least one pattern or change in material/texture.
