CHARLESTON CITY GUIDE: Candy Shop Vintage

Charlestonians and Tourist! Check out this fantastic interview with our local favorite boutique Candy Shop Vintage, on the “go to spots” here in Charleston, SC! Not only does this store sell a variety of cute items but they carry our very own #hartearrings! Be sure to go to their store while traveling!
If you were a tourist or your friend was traveling to the town where would you tell them to stay!
The new 86 Cannon is such a unique, lovely and intimate spot. I would recommend it for a luxurious and local experience of Charleston. Also, love The Dewberry with it's mid-century vibe and loungey Living Room bar.

What is your favorite spot to grab a bite at?
For lunch, I love Butcher and Bee and for dinner, without a doubt The Ordinary.

Where is your favorite drink spot, whether it's a cafe or lounge!
Probably The Belmont on Upper King.

What are the must go shopping places!
Candy Shop Vintage, of course, Mac & Murphy, Indigo & Cotton, Hampden Clothing and if you get out of Downtown a bit I love browsing The Antiques Market and Charleston Revisions in Mt. Pleasant for treasures and Gwynn's is an amazing locally owned department store that has everything you could want.

Do you have any favorite activities in your area?
I recently did a paddleboarding/yoga class on Isle of Palms that was incredible - such a great way to start the day. Also, the (horseback riding) trails at Middleton Place Plantation are lovely.

What is the best spot to SEE?
I love The George Gallery for checking out contemporary art in Charleston then walking around the Upper King/Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood. A stop at Sugar Bakeshop is always a must. A walk along The Battery and cocktails at The Watch on the roof of The Restoration Hotel which has a fantastic panoramic view of the city.

Where are you most Inspired by in Charleston?
I love walking around downtown in The French Quarter - the little side streets and hidden alleys are so picturesque, and the Charleston paint colors are always inspiring. The beach at Sullivan's Island is a great place to walk and decompress.

What is the best-selling item are your boutique?
I think Hart's tassel earrings and our vintage earrings are tied for best sellers at our shop on Cannon Street. People always love to find a unique vintage pair of earrings that speaks to them and the tassels have become everyone's go to everyday earring, plus they go well with our Charleston Rice Beads. We try to offer a unique selection of items at Candy Shop Vintage that aren't found anywhere else in Charleston - with our curated collection of vintage and our specialty gift items like hand-embroidered cocktail napkins and vintage accessories I really think it is the best place to find a unique gift for someone or something special for yourself.
