TASSEL TALK: Denim and Army Jackets

HART'S TAKE ON TWO CLASSICS: DENIM AND ARMY JACKETS

Hart Custom Embroidered Jackets
In lieu of my interview with Elle, I wanted to take another moment to gush over my customized, handmade jackets: my babies.
My jackets and earrings have something in common: they are timeless, versatile staples that dress up ANY look in an unexpected way. Embellished with couture-like Miao embroidery I sourced directly from villages in Southwest China, my jackets are not only head turners, they endow the wearer with a certain magic. Whenever I have a bad day, I slip one on and quickly revitalize.

I want you to feel that magic too, and I invite you to create your trophy jacket in a private studio appointment. You can customize a 70s surplus army jacket with my treasure trove of embroidery and embellishments like (fabulous faux) fur collars, buttons and vintage fabric linings. In 4-6 weeks, you'll have an incredible showpiece to wear over everything from dresses to denim.

Speaking of denim...I am obsessed with my Mandarin jean jacket ($580). It's the classic Levi trucker with a Sgt. Pepper rock'n'roll twist. Cut from raw Japanese denim, it stands out with exquisite details like China's dying handcraft of frog knot buttons. Luckily, I found some elderly Shanghai aunties to make them. Each knot takes 1-2 hours to make and sew on.
This heirloom has so many special details, I nerded-out with an infographic:
