P.S. I HART This: Boring Fall Basics

BORING BUT REALLY GOOD BASICS I LIVE IN
(+ a playlist to set the mood while you read)

Let’s use a pizza metaphor, shall we? Come fall, I live in jeans, tees and sweaters. This is my cheese pizza. When I want to jazz it up, I add “ toppings” that showcase my individuality and mood. A fun shoe, a vintage statement jacket, a funky bag, and, of course, jewelry. “Toppings” are more fun when they’re unique –  vintage treasures or designer second-hand pieces from TRR.

Most days, I like to wear simple basics and let my accessories (eh hem, charm jewelry) do the talking. Just add jewelry to these tried-and-true wardrobe essentials I wear on repeat — all pieces I own, adore, and wear on repeat. I promise not to lead you astray. (Check out my ShopMy page for my entire edit).

GOOD JEANS

Thanks to our friends at Nette - Charleston’s new favorite boutique for elevated cool girl essentials - I found my new favorite pair of jeans: the Fran Jean by Agolde. A few of the women in our office love them, too. If you can’t visit their shop in person to try these dream jeans on yourself, you can get them here and here. I sized down to a 26 (I am usually a 28)!

I LOVE a white jean year-round. The trick is to keep ‘em loose. I recently consigned all of my stretchy white denim. When I don’t know what to wear and need to looked pulled-together, I’ll wear shades of white. These Levi’s embody chic-but-polished insouciance, especially when you pair them with a creamy sweater and anchor them with a dark loafer.

TEES

I’m aware that suggesting to spend $98 dollars on a tee sounds ludicrous. But, if you wear tees multiple times a week like I do, these by Agolde are so good. I’m particularly obsessed with the KILN and CACOON colors, which are stunning with gold necklaces. (Also available locally at Nette!)

SWEATERS

Alexa Chung told Vogue, “Wherever I travel, I always regret not packing a navy blue sweater.” Smart gal. I also love how she ties hers like a sling. I steal my husband’s Nadaam navy crewneck, so I’m set there. I’m super impressed by COS’s line-up of cashmere crewnecks. I have two, the grey and the brown, which have lovely olive undertones.

THE GREY SWEATSHIRT

There’s just something so cool about the grey sweatshirt. Chill and chic, it’s the perfect backdrop for a major necklace stack. I’m wearing this Buck Mason one on repeat. To keep from looking sloppy, dress it up with aforementioned jewelry and tuck it into a great belt
