P.S. I HART THIS: SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Besides drinking an absurd about of water (12 glasses a day, likely more), I guess you could say I have a skincare regime. Now that I’m 32, I take skincare somewhat seriously. Here are my favorite products that I slather on and re-order once empty.

MOISTURE, MOISTURE, MOISTURE

Laurell

Antioxidant Serum (Vibrancy Revival)

This is my desert-island skin product. Even though it’s technically an intense, overnight serum, I wear it both day and night. That’s pretty much the only serum/lotion thing I put on my face. If you’re local to Charleston, I suggest buying yours from Wildcraft, a gorgeous natural skincare store in West Ashley.

EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE
There are two types of exfoliation: physical and chemical. If I’m feeling like my skin is looking grubby, I’ll vigorously rub it with a hot washcloth and some soap. Or, in the summer at the beach, I’ll gently scrub my face with wet sand. I know, this is probably really terrible, so most of the time I focus on chemical exfoliation instead. FYI, I don’t apply these every night, so as not to strip away everything from my skin.
GOOP Glow Micoderm Instant Glow Exfoliator ($125) I’ll use this mask 1-2x / week, typically when I’m taking a nice long bath.

The Ordinary
Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (Previously Advanced Retinoid 2%) I see a big difference with my skin the next morning. Softer and clearer.

Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution. Apply with a cotton ball. I do this almost every night after cleansing.

CLEANSE
Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Cleanser  is oldie but a goodie. I wash my face each night with this. In the morning, I rinse my face with cold water (no soap). I use Vaseline on a cotton ball to remove stubborn eye makeup.

THE SUN
Supergoop!
Unseen Sunscreen is the only sunscreen I don’t hate to put on because it’s a clear serum. I will admit, I am terrible about wearing sunscreen because I hate the chalky white mineral stuff! I think it’s a tad pricey, but it’s worth it, and I’ll be using it all summer long.

Saint Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse is my secret weapon for feeling prettier and more glamorous… instantly. I got my first fake tans leading up to my wedding and honeymoon, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Just a thin application of Saint Tropez 1-2x week turns my pale, pink skin into a warmer, sexier complexion. It’s easy to apply and fast-drying. Not to mention, it’s slimming and makes me look better in skin-bearing clothing. Don’t forget to buy the application mitt – it’s a game changer!

P.S. Botox
I am not ashamed to admit that I get ‘Preventative Botox’ every 3-6 months. Nothing crazy… just enough “splashes” to prevent the creation of major wrinkles. I have a deep wrinkle (or groove) in between my eyes that would be MUCH more pronounced if I didn’t have this injection. A little goes a long way in preventing major crevices on my face. Just don’t overdo it. I believe some wrinkles are sexy and I still want to be able to express my emotions!
